Who is Major
Ted?
Major Ted
is our beloved mascot. Part fact and part fiction, Major Ted
fights in the the primordial mists of forests and fields of the
Airsoft Warrior. Major Ted is based on the founder of our
company, Ted Rhodes, a true soldier in every sense of the term.
Ted Rhodes
enlisted in the United States Army in the Winter of 1978. After
completing Airborne and Special Forces selection and qualification,
he was assigned to Special Forces ODA Detachment at the 7th
SFG(A), Fort Bragg, as a Special Forces Engineer and Demolition
Specialist, and cross-trained as a Light and Heavy Weapons
Specialist.
While there,
he qualified as Jumpmaster, and in Special Forces Underwater
Operations (SCUBA), submarine lockout (meaning he was launched out
of submarines for surgical strikes), and High Altitude, Low Open
(HALO) Military Freefall infiltration techniques. Only the
best of the best go through the HALO program.
In 1986 the
Army selected him to attend Officer Candidate School at Fort
Benning. After receiving his commission in 1987, he became
qualified as U.S. Army Ranger, Pathfinder, Air Assault, and Expert
Infantryman. He led an infantry platoon for two years at the 25th
Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
He commanded
at the company level at the 80th Training Division,
Abingdon Virginia, and was then accepted into the Active Guard and
Reserve program. He went back to Hawaii in 1999 as a staff officer
for Special Operations Command, Pacific, (SOCPAC), a Joint Command
comprised of operators from Special Forces, Navy SEALS, Air Force
Combat Controllers (CTT), and Marine Force Recon.
He moved to West Point New York in
2002 to serve as the Operations Officer for the 411th
Civil Affairs Battalion, Commanded the rear Battalion, and in 2005
deployed to Iraq from that duty station. He retired in July 2006 at
the rank of Major.
An avid fan of airsoft,
Major Ted Rhodes could never find a website that offered everything
a true Airsoft soldier needed for hardcore airsoft skirmishes.
So he approached two of his friends, Paul Collier and Bill Collier,
and asked them if they wanted to start an airsoft company with him
that would supply the true hardcore airsoft enthusiast with
affordable deals that would outfit the airsoft soldier from head to
toe.
Thus was born
AirsofTroops and our mascot, Major Ted.
Our Airsoft company was
founded by genuine airsoft enthusiasts who've had practical hands on
experience with airsoft guns as buyers and even as sellers at flea
markets and shows.

Ted's daily blog, airsoft e-books, fellow war stories, and many more
